There's a purple tint on the woodland leaves
And the wind's are up all day,
There's a rustling heard in the yellow sheaves
And it seems to sadly say,
Sweet summer, sweet summer, sweet summer's gone away.

WELCOME to our monthly collection, our online commonplace book. Here you will find links and ideas to explore, and things to revisit or just to think about. Sip a latte and enjoy some quiet time here.

Chilly evening air

Wuthering: to make a rushing or roaring sound, especially as by wind. Now at least the title of Wuthering Heights makes more sense.
Eva True Pesto (something I had fun making this month)
2 garlic cloves
1 tsp. salt, a little pepper
3 cups packed basil leaves
2 tbsp. parsley, optional
2 tbsp. pine nuts/walnuts
1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 cup parmesan cheese (skip if freezing)
Puree in blender. I had to use more oil to get it to work in my blender. Then I froze it in silicone ice tray like this. One cube is a nice amount to dab over a pizza for a fresh basil flavor. (I feel like such an imposter talking about recipes!) A pint of dried basil and 23 tablespoons of pesto from one plant. (And this recipe has no connection with my sister, Eva.)

Something I learned: Shakespeare has his own Dewey Decimal Number: 822.33 He is the only author with his own unique classification.
Something I enjoyed looking at on Amazon but did not buy:Mini Bookshelf. This cute bookshelf with tiny books is like a puzzle but you get to decide how to organize the pieces. You could create a shelf of your favorites, arrange them by genre or color or any way your heart desires. Touted as beneficial for anxiety, but that probably depends.
Something I happened to sing: So Send I You. I happened to be humming this hymn one day and looked for it in my songbooks because I didn’t know the words. It was not in the Christian Hymnal, like I was sure of. I googled it to know the words and happened on the story of how it came to be written by a young lady teaching school at a logging camp during the Great Depression. The story is here, here and here.
Something I wrote down from a book I was listening to: There is in Jesus Christ more merit and righteousness than the whole world has need of. -from Pilgrimage of Christiana by John Bunyan
Something to do with books besides read them: Decorating tip: use your books to add seasonal color to your rooms. I just put away my blue and green colored books and now have purple, orange, and brown books on my end tables. It’s a subtle nod to the season without proclaiming “Happy Fall, Ya’ll!”

Some feelings: I have felt stuck lately. I procrastinate. I can’t make a decision and just get to work. It’s been especially bad today and now I remember I have some journaling prompts that get me back on track. I’m going to try my favorites and see if it helps:
1. One thing I could do today is
2. I'm scared
3. What if I
4. I need
When you feel stuck, just finish the sentence and see where it takes you!

Something autumnal to read:
Go to So She Reads Shop to download Fall Reading Inspiration.
A chill crept down the mountain
trees shook their leaves
and waved good-bye.

This was a pleasant read! Now I’m inspired to try different lattes than my usual. 😋
Thanks for the link to my post about “So Send I You.” I *love* that mini bookcase. I may put it on my Christmas wish list.
