Born in 1977 in Cork, Ireland
Ms McTeirnan grew up in different cities in Ireland including Dublin and Limerick. She studied to be a solicitor (lawyer in our language), and worked in her own practice for 12 years. She is married to Kenny. They have two children, a boy and a girl. Ireland hit a recession and the family moved to Perth, Australia.
In 2014, she decided to give writing a go. Her first novel was published in 2018. She writes about crime, which doesn’t sound so attractive at first thought, but I have really enjoyed her books. They are not gruesome. They seem more down the line of cozy rather than scary. Her books have won numerous awards.
I have three of her books. The Ruin (2018), The Scholar (2019), and The Good Turn (2020). I enjoyed all of them. This set of books is also known as the Cormac Reilly series. He is the inspector in all of these books and it is his job to find out why dead bodies keep turning up. This makes for a lot of touchy situations. He needs to ask questions, but does not want to tip off the bad guy. His job is not all sunshine and roses, but it is definitly important to find out who is behind the crimes.
Derval McTeirnan has other books, also. She has a couple standalone books that I have not read, yet. She also has some novellas that I have not come across in my book searches, either. When I do, they will certainly go on my TBR.
How about you? Do you read crime books? True or Fiction?

I’ve already checked my reading apps to see if her books are available. For the last 6 months I’ve been into crime/detective mystery books. I’m currently listening to the Walt longmire series by Craig Johnson. Your book suggestions are next😊
