The April Collection: Flights of Fancy

WELCOME to our monthly collection where we post interesting and fun information; stuff we came across that caught our attention or tickled our funny bone, or inspired action.

I made this Italian Raspberry Ricotta Cake for dessert on Sunday and saved the recipe to make again because we all liked it. I made it in an angel food cake pan, as I didn’t see any round cake pans handy in my kitchen. I like that it isn’t overly sweet and the ricotta has protein. It was pretty, too!

3 Natural Ingredients That Will Clean Your Entire Home. This article is an invitation to simplify cleaning, while also saving money and reducing toxins.

The 5 Most Important Areas of Life to Simplify. This is an informative and motivating article about how to start simplifying your life and find time to rest, reflect and reduce distractions from your purpose. I am reading Things That Matter by Joshua Becker now, and would recommend it if you would like to have more purpose and less distraction in your life.

A little nonsense now and then, is cherished by the wisest men. (Roald Dahl) Have you ever wondered what your name would have been had you lived in Victorian England? No? But now you might be curious. Here’s a way to find out — Start with Lady. Add your middle name. Next the last drink you had with ‘ton’ added to the end. Next the word ‘of’ and the first part of your street name with ‘shire’ added. Mine would be Lady Caroline Topochicoton of Bouchardshire. My daughter is Lady Raine Waterton of Bouchardshire. This exercise gives me grade school vibes in a fun way.

I am not a big thrift shopper, but last week one day I had to take the pickup into the shop and it was a number of hours before it would be done. I did some shopping, had lunch, and still had time to kill. I went into the local thrift shop thinking maybe they would have a book or two that would strike my fancy. I came across this little gem. It was printed in 1964; written by a Dorothy C Haskin. On the flyleaf, it says “Merry Christmas, Ardyce From Shirley 1970.”I have no idea who these two friends were, but if they were reading this book, they couldn’t have been going wrong! Snag your own copy of it here! There is a prayer after each chapter. This one has stuck in my mind: Give me wisdom, Lord, to do things which will interest my family in Thee. AMEN!

That's all! Hope you have a lovely day.
