Hats Off to Survey Responders!

Thank you to everyone who filled out our survey in July, 2023. We are so excited to know more about you and what you would like to see happening at So She Reads. Our goal is to make this space useful and inspiring to you.

More Stories, More Book Reviews

The result that surprised me the most was you would like more stories about our lives. My life seems so ordinary, (if something is more ordinary than usual, is it extraordinary?) I wonder what I could even tell you. Knowing each others’ stories helps us form connections. I’d like to hear your stories too. So let’s share them.

Along with more stories about life, you wanted more book reviews. So far in 2023, I’ve logged 42 books. A couple of them were a lot longer than I’ve read before. A lot were short. Eva doesn’t know how many books she reads. She thinks what you don’t know won’t hurt you, but she guesses three or four a month. But we are both reading daily, usually for a time after lunch.

Not surprisingly, 97% of you receive emails from us. Thirty-nine percent are between the ages of 36 and 45. The older and younger readers are each at 30%. That’s a strong cross section of age groups. We keep that in mind when we review books. The great thing is, good books are good for any age.

Anonymous Digital Minimalist

You really like best to remain anonymous. I myself am 86% introverted, according to one personality test, so I think I understand. But I did really want to make a connection with you, the reader. What’s the point of writing if there’s no response? I used to try to leave the comments to Eva, but she wouldn’t do it for me. I find replying to your comments to be out of my comfort zone, but I feel a lot better about it since I did some studying about commenting. Since then, I find myself replying to your comments more quickly and commenting more on other chats. I am glad to see my tiny improvement in communication.

Yes, you do have to make an ‘account’ to comment. But it amounts to filling in your name and email. Do it once and commenting is one click. One benefit of an account is you will be notified if anyone responds to your comment or answers your question.

Most of you want to spend less time on your phone. We get it. That’s why we write short quick reads. We aim to make them easy to scan if that’s how you roll. They are usually positive and encouraging in nature, as a bonus. And to be totally transparent, sometimes we can’t think of anything more to say.

Just over 10% of you were brave enough to respond! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking time to fill out the survey for So She Reads.

    • Hi Karole. Thanks for the honesty.😄 I was going to say in the post 0 was an okay number, and I forgot! First you dream it, then you achieve it.

  1. Actually I most often read as a proofreader so most books aren’t really heavy. I just finished one on Forensics which was very interesting.

  2. I am so sad that I missed the survey! I looked back and there it was, unread. 😦 Maybe next time I’ll get to participate! I really enjoyed the post on mature authors. Looking forward to reading some of those! I’m 38. I think. 😉

    • Rhonda, looking forward to your response on the next survey. Choosing books with mature main characters has been my favorite reading challenge to date. Enjoy!

  3. I haven’t kept track how many I’ve read from your lists but I know you’ve lengthened my to-be-read list! Thank you!

  4. I’ve read quite a few of your recommendations… Six that I can think of right off. I have really enjoyed your fiction recommendations!

  5. I’ve read a handful of the later recommendations. I’ve also added some to my tottering “to read” stack. (Which is divided into two tottering stacks, actually, one mere enjoyment and the other heavier learning and improving variety.

    • Hi, Lily, thanks for the info. I just cleaned up my TBR shelf. Some moved on… Do you alternate between the two stacks or have one of each going at the same time? I usually have both going!
